He will help the Cheshire and Merseyside landlord draw up its next three-year corporate plan, which will start from 2028.

Mr Taylor replaces Jessica McKinlay, who is leaving the 13,500-home housing association to launch a finance consultancy.

He said: “I am delighted to be joining Plus Dane as the new director of finance.

“Plus Dane is an organisation with a clear sense of purpose and values, and a strong commitment to delivering for its customers and communities.

“I am really looking forward to joining the team and playing a role in the future direction of the organisation.”

Ian Reed, chief executive at Plus Dane, said: “I am very pleased to welcome James as our new director of finance.

“James brings a wealth of experience from across the housing and wider public sector, and his strategic insight and leadership will be invaluable as we continue to strengthen our financial resilience and deliver on our long-term ambitions for customers.”

Mr Taylor, who has previously held roles at Torus and SP Energy Networks, stepped down from his role at Connexus last week in order to take on his new job.

He had been finance director at the landlord, which owns 10,000 homes in rural Shropshire and Herefordshire.

The housing association is hiring a replacement and Mr Taylor will stay in the role until mid-July.

Kate Smith, chief executive at Connexus, said: “I would like to thank James for his significant contribution to Connexus over the last two years, and we wish him every success in the future.”

Mr Taylor’s appointment follows a flurry of new board member changes at Plus Dane last year, and comes nearly 18 months after the landlord announced a new chair.
