Three members of a family were killed after their SUV collided head-on with a truck on the Rewari-Jaisalmer National Highway-11 in Haryana’s Rewari district during the early hours of Monday, police said. The family was reportedly returning home from Rajasthan after visiting a coaching institute for their son’s admission when the tragic accident occurred, HT reported.

According to police, the crash took place around 1.30 am near the Rampura area on the Rewari-Jaisalmer highway. The victims were travelling in a Scorpio SUV when it collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction. The impact of the collision was so severe that the SUV was completely mangled, killing all three occupants on the spot.

The deceased were identified as Brajmohan, 40, his wife Anita, 38, and their 13-year-old son. The family belonged to Bodia Kamalpur village in Rewari district. Brajmohan worked in a private company, while Anita was employed as a government school teacher, HT reported.

According to the report, passersby who witnessed the accident alerted police and emergency services. Rescue teams rushed to the spot, but due to the heavily damaged condition of the vehicle, officials faced major difficulties in pulling out the bodies trapped inside the wreckage. Police said a nearly two-hour rescue operation was carried out before the bodies could be recovered.

The bodies were later shifted to Rewari Civil Hospital for post-mortem examination. Police officials said preliminary investigation suggests that overspeeding or loss of vehicle control may have caused the accident, though all possible angles are being examined.

Rampura police station SHO Sanjay Kumar said efforts were underway to trace the truck driver, who allegedly fled the scene soon after the collision. A case has been registered, and further investigation is in progress, HT reported.
