Multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy Harley Haddow has launched a new office in Birmingham, its eighth UK location and third new office in four years.

The 11-strong team, based at Runway East, will be led by director Scott Lydon, supported by regional director Jeremy Silvester.

Harley Haddow Midlands will provide mechanical, electrical and public health consultancy for buildings, working with public and private sector clients on building performance and efficiency.

The firm mobilised quickly to build the new office, recruiting engineers, a Building Information Modelling specialist, an office manager and two apprentices to launch the operation.

Scott Lydon said the firm’s knowledge of the regional market, backed by the foundations of a 76-year-old business, positioned the new office for success and would provide continuity across the built environment sector.

Jim Kellachan, also a director at Harley Haddow, added establishing a Birmingham base was a natural next step in the firm’s expansion, and that acquiring an experienced team ready to operate immediately strengthened the company’s geographic footprint and sustainability focus.

Founded in 1950, Harley Haddow is a multidisciplinary engineering consultancy advising on civil and structural engineering, geotechnical work, energy and sustainability, mechanical, electrical and public health systems, and net zero.
