Body of man, 80s, and woman, 90s, discovered at Clare property as Gardai launch investigation but rule out foul play

GARDAI are investigating the discovery of two bodies at a residential property in North Clare yesterday.

The remains of the elderly man and woman were found at the house near Doolin late last night.

Gardai and units of Clare County Fire and Rescue Service from Ennistymon station attended the scene.

The bodies were discovered inside the property.

A Garda spokesperson confirmed: “Gardai are investigating the discovery of a body of a man and woman, at a residential property in Doolin, Co. Clare late last night Saturday 11th October, 2025.

“The bodies of the man, aged in his 80s and female aged in her 90s has since been removed from the scene and taken to the mortuary in University Hospital Limerick where a post mortems will take place in due course.

“The results of the post mortem will determine the course of the investigation.”

It’s understood however, that foul play is not suspected.

It comes as Gardai are probing a separate body find in Cork today.

In the unrelated incident the body of a man, 40s, was discovered at Rockview Terrace, Doneraile, Mallow early this morning.

The Assistant State Pathologist, Dr. Margot Bolster is due to attend the scene of the body find.

The Garda Technical Bureau have also been requested to attended.

It is understood the man’s body remains at the scene this morning.

An incident room has been established at Mallow Garda Station and a senior investigating officer has been appointed to lead the investigation.

Gardai said today: “Gardai in Mallow are investigating all of the circumstances surrounding the death of a man, aged in his 40s following the discovery of a body at Rockview Terrace, Doneraile, Mallow, Co. Cork in the early hours of this morning Sunday 12th October, 2025.

“The Assistant State Pathologist, Dr. Margot Bolster has been contacted to attend the scene where the body of the deceased remains at this time.

“A senior investigating officer (SIO) has been appointed to lead the investigation and an incident room has been established at Mallow Garda Station. A family liaison officer (FLO) has also been assigned to provide support to the family. The Garda Technical Bureau has been requested to attend the scene.

“Gardai are appealing for witnesses to contact them and are seeking any available camera footage, including dashcam recordings, from those who were in the vicinity of Doneraile village, Mallow, Co. Cork this morning from 12 midnight to 2am Sunday 12th October, 2025.
