A property consultancy has strengthened its environmental leadership with a key appointment.

Lucy George, based in York, has been named head of sustainability at Carter Jonas.

In her new role, Ms George will lead the firm’s environmental strategy and Net Zero ambitions, overseeing both operational and client advisory activities across the business.

The promotion reflects Carter Jonas’ commitment to embedding sustainability throughout its operations.

Richard Bruce, chief executive of Carter Jonas, said: “Lucy’s appointment marks an important point in the evolution of our sustainability strategy.

“Her insight, technical expertise and commitment to driving meaningful progress make her ideally placed to lead this important work.

“As Head of Sustainability, she will help us deliver on our Net Zero ambitions while continuing to develop the innovative environmental services that our clients increasingly require.”

Ms George has been with Carter Jonas for seven years and previously worked as a senior specialist in the firm’s national natural capital services team.

She has advised private and public landowners and supported developers on Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG).

In her new position, Ms George will bring together her experience in natural capital with a broader sustainability remit, ensuring these principles are embedded across Carter Jonas’ strategy and client services.

Ms George said: “I’m delighted to take on this new role at such a critical time for the property and land sectors.

“Sustainability is no longer an optional consideration – it’s central to how we plan, manage and invest in the built and natural environment.

“I’m looking forward to working with colleagues and clients to drive practical, evidence-based progress towards our shared goals.”

She will work closely with senior leadership to guide the next phase of the firm’s sustainability journey and support its aim to achieve measurable and lasting impact across its diverse portfolio of projects and sectors.

Lucy’s appointment strengthens Carter Jonas’s position as a leader in sustainability, bringing together expertise in energy, infrastructure, planning, rural consultancy and environmental services to deliver lasting value for clients, communities and the environment.
