Global engineering, architecture and environmental consultancy Stantec is to relocate its Bristol office to one of the city’s flagship office developments.
The Canadian firm, which acquired Bristol-based engineering and design firm Hydrock two years ago, has secured 17,000 sq ft at Embarq Bristol, a100,000 sq ft Grade A office scheme at Redcliff Quay.
The deal comes as a major refurbishment of the waterside building nears completion.
Stantec, whose 200-plus Bristol workforce is based in Queen Square, needed a more modern office as it continues to develop.
It chose Embarq, which is owned by real estate investment company Skelton, for its proximity to local transport connections and green and blue spaces, its scalability and its potential to house creative, collaborative workspaces.
Stantec, which is listed on both the Toronto and New York stock exchanges, provides interdisciplinary services across the built environment and utilities sectors and is undergoing a sustained period of growth throughout the UK.
Its Bristol team includes a broad range of interdisciplinary professionals – from designers to engineers and planners – with collaboration and wellbeing at the heart of its culture.
Once the refurbishment is completed in early spring, Embarq will offer 100,000 sq ft of what its agents re calling “amenity-rich, Grade A office” space which is targeting BREEAM Excellent, EPC A, and Nabers 4* rating in.
A further 28,000 sq ft is also under offer in the building.
Natasha Jones, co-office lead and director of landscape architecture at Stantec, said: “This location for our new flagship Bristol office was both a bold and responsible choice for Stantec.
“It’s such a striking location, easily accessible for teams in and around the city, with incredible waterfront views of everything that makes Bristol the place it is.
“We’re excited to move in once the refurbishments have completed and create another world-class office space where our teams can thrive and support clients with their biggest challenges.”
Skelton Group was advised by Knight Frank and Stantec by Morton Property Consultants on the transaction.
Polly Smart, an associate in Knight Frank’s Bristol commercial office team, said: “The commitment by Stantec reflects the appetite among leading businesses for high-quality, sustainable workspaces where landlords have extensively refurbished existing buildings with occupier well-being and carbon reduction at their core.”
Phil Morton, director of Morton Property Consultants, added; “We were proud to work closely with Stantec to secure their new Bristol flagship space, ensuring it fulfilled their vision and aspirations.
