Betty Lou Pollman

Betty Lou Pollman, 90, of Georgetown, passed away at 6:30pm, Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at Colonial Manor Nursing Home, Danville. She was born on January 10, 1932, in Bottineau, North Dakota, to Albert and Beatrice Hoff.
She graduated from Notre Dame Academy in Willow City, North Dakota in 1950. She was united in marriage to Richard Keith Pollman on October 30, 1950, at Our Lady of Victory Church by Father Roman G. Neva in Willow City, ND. After their marriage, Betty & Richard moved to Georgetown, IL, and lived there ever since.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard on April 28, 2002; her brothers, Milton & Kenneth Hoff; and her sisters, Lorraine Pollman & Rachel Arneson.
She is survived by her two sons, Alan W. (Carla) Pollman of Georgetown & Jim D. (Ginny) Pollman of Greenville, IL; her daughter, Jennifer L. Weber of Scottsdale, AZ; her seven grandchildren, Jessica J. Weber, Courtney (Justin) Turner, Kasandra (Keith) Murphy, Kelcey (Matthew) Roberts, Mallory Weber, Kathryn Pollman, and Matthew Pollman; her two great grandchildren, Kellan Murphy & Kendall Murphy; and many nieces & nephews. She will also be missed by her loving canine companion, Maggie.
Betty belonged to St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church, Georgetown for 72 years and the American Legion Auxiliary for 59 years. She was president of the Auxiliary for 9 years and served as the Poppy Chairman for over 30 years. She volunteered at the VA Hospital in Danville for over 500 hours. She worked at Illinois Bell, Montgomery Ward, the Jacket Factory, and Coates Orchard, where she picked apples for over 30 years. She loved being outdoors, gardening, and making pies & zucchini bread.
Betty’s tenacity, stubbornness, hard work ethic, and a love for life was the legacy she left her family. She was an inspiration to all who knew her.
A celebration of Betty’s life will be held at 11:00am, Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church, 109 W 7th St, Georgetown, IL, 61846, with Father Sauppé & Father Deus officiating. Visitation will be 5:00pm to 7:00pm, Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Georgetown, Illinois 200 E. West St. Georgetown, Illinois 61846. She will be laid to rest in Forest Park Cemetery, Georgetown. Memorial donations may be given to her special charity, the Auxiliary Poppy Fund & Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation.
