Commercial created for Henrico CASA honored by Telly Awards

The Idea Center received Silver recognition in the 43rd annual Telly Awards for a commercial it created for Henrico CASA.
This was Henrico CASA’s first-ever commercial, and the goal was to drive volunteers to help children who experience domestic violence while also highlighting CASA’s role in assisting those children, CASA community engagement director Kristin Blalock said.
“The hard thing about domestic violence is it often plays out behind closed doors,” Blalock said. “And so we were really excited to work on this video because we really feel like the commercial takes you through the humaneness and the emotions that are there for the children we work with.”
Receiving a Telly Award also was exciting for the organization because it offers global recognition for CASA’s work, Blalock said. Idea Center President Barry Martin, however, measures the success of his work based on its impact.
“We are excited to see this commercial, as well as the others that are in production, draw volunteers to Henrico CASA’s mission,” Martin said.
The commercial follows the story of children who experience domestic violence and then are moved into a safe home with the help of CASA. Maurice McNeil produced the commercial, which was filmed locally and with actors connected with Henrico CASA, according to a press release.
The video has been shared on Youtube, Instagram and Facebook and so far has more than 65,000 views online. Viewers may see the commercial on NBC and other television news outlets, Blalock said.
