Upcoming commercial troll chinook retention period to limit catch | Local News

Each commercial troll fisherman in Southeast Alaska can catch and keep up to nine chinook salmon during a third chinook retention period for the summer troll season that’s set to run from Sept. 1 through Sept. 10 and target a total remaining harvest allocation of about 3,200 chinook, the Alaska Department of Fish and Game announced on Monday.
“Based on the number of chinook salmon remaining on the annual all-gear allocation and the number of permits actively fishing, a total of 9 chinook salmon per permit will be allocated during the 10-day fishery,” states the announcement.
