AKC installs Adam Langford as agri-environmental consultant
Adam Langford has joined AKC Agriculture, as an agri-environmental consultant. He will work to help clients realise efficiency and environmental gains in their journey to more sustainable modes of production.
Founded in 1957, AKC Agriculture is an independent strategic and financial consultancy, working with clients in the farming and agricultural sector. The Wiltshire-based company also provides accountancy, payroll and bookkeeping services.
As the UK’s agricultural sector looks to transition to more sustainable practices, amid the country’s wider drive to net zero, AKC is adding new services to the core services it provides its farming clients. An important addition to these efforts is the appointment of Adam Langford, who joins the consultancy as its first agri-environmental consultant.
Langford commented, “With ever growing pressure on land use and public scrutiny on the farming sector, the need for robust advice and support for farmers is essential. Through a blend of upcoming schemes and support I hope farmers can navigate their way to more efficient, profitable, higher welfare farming systems whilst also contributing to improved soil health, nature recovery and climate resilience, demonstrating that these objectives can be achieved alongside each other.”
Holding an MSc in advanced wildlife conservation in practice, and conservation biology, Langford’s skillset will enable AKC to provide its clients with additional services, by offering environmental assessments and ecological surveys. He will also be providing specialist follow up work under the Future Farming Resilience Fund, through which he will support all the firm’s clients in their transition to working with new land-based schemes.
Following his postgraduate study in conservation, Langford spent the last five years working for Natural England. As a catchment sensitive farming advisor there, he worked across the Bristol Avon catchment advising farmers and land managers on how their business can help improve water quality of local rivers, wider air quality and help reduce flood risk across the catchment. His role with AKC will continue to build on this experience.
AKC Agriculture was recently named in Consultancy.uk’s 2023 rankings. The firm was selected as one of the UK’s leading consultancies in theagriculture category.
