Greg Mace launches ‘experience architect’ business Gweal

Former Rapport and Portico managing director Greg Mace has launched a new front-of-house consultancy.

Gweal Experience Architects aims to assist operators to deliver memorable experiences in workplace, residential and hospitality settings.

Mace said Gewal would offer strategic insight, practical expertise and human warmth, with an approach that focusses on how environments feel, as well as how they function.

He added: “Exceptional experiences rarely happen by accident. They’re designed, rehearsed and owned. Our role is to help clients see their experience from a fresh perspective and bring it to life with confidence.”

Positioning the business as ‘experience architects’, Mace said the consultancy would focus on workplace design and mobilisation, front of house outsourcing advice and culture development.

The name Gweal originates from one of the Isles of Scilly, reflecting Mace’s roots and the philosophy behind the brand.

He said: “As a boy on Bryher, I used to climb Gweal Hill and look out towards Gweal Island. That elevated view gave a sense of perspective and connection and you could see how everything fits together. Gweal is built on that same principle: helping organisations rise above the operational noise to see clearly and design experiences that truly resonate.”

Before launching Gweal, Mace founded Portico in 2004, before returning to guest services with the launch of Rapport in 2011. More recently he was chief experience officer at luxury later living provider Riverstone.
