If the Reserve Bank cuts the cash rate by 50 basis points next year, the borrowing capacity of an average couple will increase by about $43,000.

Assuming a combined annual income of $209,040, the couple goes from being able to borrow $1.19 million to $1.23 million, according to the Commonwealth Bank of Australia’s borrowing calculator.
