A €4.55 billion investment announced in further and higher education this week represents the biggest ever capital investment in Ireland’s tertiary education system.

The Tertiary Sector Capital Investment Plan 2026-2030 comes with investments for ATU, Castlebar FET College, and Sligo FET.

Minister of State for Further Education, Apprenticeship, Construction and Green Skills, Marian Harkin, says that this investment “ensures that learners across the region have access to the very best facilities and training supports”.

The Independent TD for Sligo-Leitrim has been speaking to Midwest Radio’s Scott Stephens, and she began by explaining what is in the plan, and why it’s good for the West.
