1830 DC Vintage: “Without too much melodrama, we have decided to close the shop.”

1830 Columbia Road, NW
Thanks to S. for passing on the sad news from 1830 DC Vintage:
“Hello Vintage lovers! Without too much melodrama, we have decided to close the shop.
(Not that we’re open often in the first place.) Covid turned exciting, in-person auctions into on-line affairs, which isn’t much fun for us. Sourcing quality pieces we can sell for neighborhood prices is increasingly difficult… we just can’t get enough good stuff to fill the shop as often as we’d like.
Making this decision isn’t easy. There are great sources of vintage furniture in DC, but we are attached to our Fri/Sat opens when we get to hang out with lovely, interesting people. The shop has been a great place to see friends and meet new ones- we’ve shared stories and photos, and had a blast as furniture, art and and accessories passed through the store on their way to new homes.
We’ll miss stories of the neighborhood and of travel, jobs, weddings, babies, new pets and family heirlooms. This little focus on home decor has given us a reprieve from the craziness around us and in the world. Thank you for following along, visiting the shop, supporting a small/local business and reusing what already exists.
Not sure if or how a bit of old furniture might be in our future…. still trying to work that out. With deep appreciation, Greg and Wendy”
