HFOT said SPC Craven was severely injured while serving in Iraq. In 2010, SPC Craven was driving the lead vehicle in a convoy when an explosive detonated on the driver’s side of the vehicle. He is now paralyzed below his knee.HFOT said because of this, SPC Craven uses a wheelchair, but his previous home was not accessible. SPC Craven said during the ceremony that this home will allow him to be able to relax. “This home is a complete barrier-free home, so I can come home, hop in my wheelchair after a long day, and can be a part of the family and not have to worry,” SPC Craven said. The organization said the new home features more than 40 major special adaptions. This includes widened doorways, a roll-in shower, pull-down shelving and lowered countertops. SPC Craven said he is thankful for all the support and help from donors for making this happen. “I just want to say thank you so much and we look forward to this and we are very grateful,” said SPC Craven.
