Reptile zoo looking for homes for animals due to closing
PERRY, N.Y. — A local reptile zoo in Perry known as ‘Prehistoric World‘ shared some sad news on Monday on their social media pages.
“We will be open this January, after that…I don’t know. If you like Prehistoric World, don’t be a stranger and come visit! But currently we are in crisis mode and cannot guarantee anything beyond January. So many factors are in play here that is completely out of our control. Lack of staff, extreme hikes in all expenses across the board, etc.”
In 2012, the group started by offering people an educational experience through reptile encounters. Evolving throughout the years they have now become a public zoo for the community to enjoy.
However, the group may no longer be able to continue into the new year. Due to this, they are asking people to come visit them and help them find some of their animals new homes.
‘If you like the work we do, we ask you come visit us this month, or have us come to your birthday party, school, library, scout meeting, etc. Donate some food for the animals, help us find homes for these beautiful animals or even just spread the word about us.”
When visiting the zoo people are able to take part in fun educational activities such as animal feeding, photos with animals, tours, and more.
