Taylor Morrison, Fischer Homes teams give big boosts to HomeAid partners
HomeAid Atlanta and local homebuilders have been busy recently, with Taylor Morrison breaking ground on two new residences at Breakthru House in Decatur and Fischer Homes volunteers conducting extensive renovations at The Drake House in Roswell.
At Breakthru House, which provides transitional housing to mothers overcoming substance abuse and their children, Taylor Morrison volunteers are building two new homes to expand the nonprofit’s capacity to 48 women in recovery from 28. The work, which includes demolishing an existing house before building the new ones, is valued at more than $1.6 million.
“When we change the lives of a mother and her child here at Breakthru House, we make a positive impact on the health of future generations,” Executive Director BreNita Jackson said at an April 28 groundbreaking ceremony.
At The Drake House, which serves women experiencing homelessness and their children, 30 Fischer Homes volunteers worked to transform a former daycare center into The Drake Marketplace, where clients can pick up goods from a new food pantry. An expanded laundry will also be part of the new facility.
This work, completed on a May 5 HomeAid Care Day, as well as contributions from the following local businesses, is valued at almost $20,000:
- Reliance Heating and Cooling
- RZ Framing
- San John Carpentry
- Victory Mortgage
- Wilkins Electric
- Woodson Drywall
- Timberlake Cabinetry
