District & County Investments has appointed Michael Clifford as its commercial director as it enters its “next phase of strategic growth”.
In the role, Clifford will lead commercial strategy, credit appetite and proposition development.
He will focus on “delivering clear underwriting frameworks, consistent decision-making and scalable origination across bridging, refurbishment, commercial and development lending”.
Clifford joins from Signature Property Finance, where he was the commercial director for around two years. Before that, he was the senior director for strategic lending at OakNorth Bank for nearly a year.
He was previously commercial director at Glenhawk for almost two years, and prior to that, he worked at Hodge for around four years, most recently as head of commercial propositions.
The firm said the appointment showed its “ambition to scale with intent, combining pace and conviction with disciplined credit standards as the platform continues to evolve”.

Clifford said: “I’m genuinely excited to be joining District & County Investments at a point where ambition and opportunity are aligned. The focus now is on scaling with intent; bringing clarity, pace and conviction to how we lend, while maintaining disciplined credit standards. We’re building a platform designed to move decisively and scale responsibly.”
Kyle Tyrrell, non-executive director at District & County Investments, added: “This was a critical hire for us, and we took our time to get it right. Michael brings real experience scaling lending businesses, and he gets what makes DCI different. We’re very happy to have him driving this next phase of growth.”
