Broker data shows rising demand
Specialist broker Enness Global recorded 28 new UK residential remortgage opportunities of £1 million or more between January 1 and September 11, 2026, double the 14 in the same period of 2025. Its total remortgage opportunities rose 23%, from 53 to 65, taking the £1 million-plus share from 26% to 43%.
Across its whole UK residential book, £1 million-plus opportunities rose 46%, from 50 to 73, compared with 17% growth in total volumes, from 200 to 234, taking their share from 25% to 31%.
The figures cover opportunities recorded by the firm’s London and UK business rather than completed transactions, and Enness said they should not be read as market-wide statistics.
The largest rise by volume came in the £1 million to £2 million bracket, up 53% from 34 to 52. Opportunities above £2 million rose 31%, from 16 to 21, while £2 million-plus remortgage opportunities increased 71%, from seven to 12.
Islay Robinson, chief executive of Enness Global, said seven-figure borrowing was historically assumed to require a private bank.
